Ann Norton Sculpture Garden

Florida Ann Norton Sculpture Garden main plaza

Hello everyone and greetings from West Palm Beach, Florida! We took a short trip down south to take in some entertainment and wound up finding a South Florida gem. We were driving around and stumbled upon the new Jennifer Balcos Art Gallery on S. County Road in Palm Beach. Jennifer is a friend of Todd and Scott Alexander who own and operate The Atlantic Contemporary Gallery here in Fernandina Beach. We stopped in to say hello and Jennifer suggested that we check out the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens right down the road in West Palm. She said it was something we didn’t want to miss, and she was absolutely correct.

Florida Ann Norton Sculpture Garden

The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens are nestled amongst the lavish houses of West Palm Beach. From the road you wouldn’t even know that behind the main house is two acres of property, featuring a collection of 250 rare species of tropical palms, cycads and native plants. Displayed throughout the house, studio and gardens are more than 100 works by the artist, including nine monumental sculptures, eight in brick and one in granite. The Gardens were designed by Ann Norton and Sir Peter Smithers.

The front house and residence features a gallery with a changing selection of contemporary artists on display. Out in the back is Ann’s studio where you can get a glimpse of her work and processes she used as an artist. The garden features works created by Ann over a 15 year period, while the studio displays works in stone, bronze, and wood created over four decades. No matter where you live, it is definitely worth the trip to see art and nature intertwined.
